Complete Day One UNLV Results in PDF Format
(Las Vegas) - USF women's golf shot its lowest round of the season with a 291 to open the 2008 UNLV Spring Rebel Invitational Monday at the Boulder Creek Golf Club. The Dons enter Tuesday's second round in third place, behind the host Rebels (294) and Washington State (285) on the par-72 course playing at 6,204 yards. Sophomore Christina Stockton shares second place on the leader board with 18 holes in the books after firing a three-under 69. Sophomore Danielle Cvitanov and senior Jessica Potter each shot a 73, good for a share of 19th place. "I am really proud of the way we competed today," USF head coach Ria Quiazon said. "We looked very focused and professional on the course today. Everyone contributed and we look forward to a successful round on Tuesday." Stockton and Potter carded a team-high five birdies to kick off the three-day, 54-hole event. Stockton led the Dons with 16 holes at par or better, while Potter closed her round with four birdies on the back nine. Cvitanov opened play with 11 straight pars. Oregon and Texas Tech shot 292 for a share of fourth place in the 18-team tournament field. No fewer than 12 teams broke 300 in the first round. USF returns to action Tuesday in second round action.
