Dior Lowhorn Named Father William Dunne Award Winner as Team MVP at Annual Basketball Banquet

March 14, 2008

(San Francisco) - All-West Coast Conference sophomore forward Dior Lowhorn, was presented with the Father William Dunne Award as the Most Valuable Player for the USF Dons at the team's annual awards banquet Friday night at the Holiday Inn at Fisherman's Wharf. Senior guard Danny Cavic was honored with three awards, while senior forward Vince Polakovic collected two.

Lowhorn led the team in points (20.5) and rebounding (7.4) and finished his standout sophomore campaign with 636 points, good for the fourth highest tally in a single season in USF history. The Texas Tech transfer scored at least 20 points in 18 games in 2007-08.

Cavic, who completed his career ranked fifth in 3-pointers (130) and third in 3-point field goal percentage (.441, 130-295) earned the Art Zief Jr. Most Inspirational Player Award, the Don McLaughlin Community Service Award and the 6th Man Club's Captain's Award.

Polakovic broke through for an outstanding senior campaign after missing the first 24 games of the season, averaging a remarkable 17.3 points and 4.6 rebounds per game in the final seven contests of his collegiate career. For his efforts, Polakovic earned the Bob Giron Coaches' Award, and the Most Improved Player Award.

Cavic and Polakovic were also presented with senior watches commemorating their career achievements on the Hilltop.
