The USF Track and Field Teams will send split squads to the California/Nevada Championships and the San Francisco State Distance Carnival this Friday and Saturday. The prelims for the California/Nevada Championships, hosted by Fresno State, will be on Friday with the finals on Saturday, the same day as the SFSU Distance Carnival.

Leading the men in Fresno on the track will be junior Alex Nelson and freshman Ravi Amarawansa in the 1500m and freshman Jesus Romo in the 3000m steeplechase. Nelson broke his own school record last week in the 1500m when he was the top collegiate finisher at the Hornet Invitational with a time of 3:51.45. Romo will compete in his second collegiate steeplechase after breaking the school record last week as well.

Leading the women on the track in Fresno will be junior Michelle Born and freshman Amelia Holcombe in the 1500m, freshmen Nicole Bowler, Hannah O'Neal and Arianna Edwards in the 800m and freshman Gabriel Harrington in the 400m. Bowler set a personal record by over eight seconds in the 1500m at the Hornet Invite last week.

Competing in the field events for the Dons in Fresno will be sophomore A.J. Fabrizio in the shot put, junior Alex Delgadillo and freshman Alexander McHenry in the javelin, freshman Oliver Kirkeby in the discus and sophomore pole vault school record holder Alex McIntosh. For the women sophomore Briana Junior will compete in the triple jump and junior Brynn Maurer will compete in the javelin, events that both individuals currently have the USF school record in.

The rest of the Dons will be in action on Saturday at San Francisco State.
