The USF Track and Field Teams will head to UC Davis this Saturday to compete against Stanford, Fresno St and the host Aggies in a quad meet that will begin at 10 am with the field events, with the running evens beginning at noon. Leading the Dons on the women's side will be senior Jennifer Hartford and junior Michelle Born in the 5000m, senior Zita Mezei and redshirt freshman Laurel Kleiber in the 1500m, freshmen Nicole Bowler in the 800m and Arianna Edwards in the 400m, along with sophomore Briana Junior in the triple jump. Born set the school record in the 3000m (9:54.11) last weekend at the WCC Track Challenge while capturing the title, while Hartford finished third with a personal best of 10:09.60. Mezei finished second at the WCC Challenge in the 800m (2:20.18), while Kleiber was fourth in the 3000m with a personal best of 10:18.63. Bowler will compete in her first collegiate 800m after finishing second in the 1500m (4:41.69) last weekend and Edwards will compete in her first collegiate 400m after finishing fourth in the 800m (2:25.01). Junior will be competing in her first triple jump of the 2008 season after setting the school record last season with a jump of 11.14m. The men will be led senior Cheyne Inman in the 5000m and junior Alex Nelson in the 800m and 1500m in the running events. Inman holds the school record in the 5000m (14:36.89) and set the 3000m record last weekend (8:30.27) while capturing the individual title. Nelson is the school record holder in both events he will be competing in and will be looking to improve on his success from the WCC Challenge Meet where he won both the 800m (1:54.87) and 1500m (3:59.59). In the field events sophomores A.J. Fabrizio and Alex Irani will look to improve on their performances from last weekends SFSU Invitational in the shot put, where Irani placed second with a throw of 12.97m and Fabrizio won the event with a new personal best of 14.23m. Competing for the Dons in the javelin will be freshman Alexander McHenry and junior Alex Delgadillo who placed fifth and seventh last week at SFSU, respectively. Sophomore Alex McIntosh will look to improve on his school record mark of 4.50m in the pole vault, a record he set last weekend at the SFSU Invitational, where he finished third overall.
