The San Francisco Track and Field Teams competed in a quadrangular meet today against host UC Davis, Stanford and Fresno State at the Woody Wilson track. Junior Alex Nelson and freshman Nicole Bowler captured individual titles for the Dons with Nelson winning the men's 1500m with a time of 3:53.32 and Bowler winning the women's 800m with a time of 2:16.35. The victory was the third for Nelson this season after he captured the 1500m and 800m titles last weekend at the WCC Challenge Meet, and the first for Bowler after she finished second in the 1500m last weekend. "Both Alex and Nicole posted decisive wins today. Alex passed 800 meters in 2:08 and threw a 58.8 on his third lap to take complete control of the race," said head coach Helen Lehman-Winters. "I am very pleased with how he handled the second half of the race. Nicole is learning from each race and it was great to see her get her first collegiate win." In other women's action senior Zita Mezei finished second in the 1500m with a time of 4:38.92, senior Jennifer Hartford finished third in the 5000m with a time of 17:24.12, a new personal best and #2 all time for the Dons. Freshman Gabriel Harrington set a new school record in the 200m with a time of 26.15 and ran a leg on the school record setting 1600 relay. Freshmen Hannah O'Neal, Arianna Edwards and Nicole Bowler joined Harrington on the record setting 1600 relay team. On the field, junior Brynn Maurer became the San Francisco's first female javelin thrower with a respectable first attempt throw of 33.55m and sophomore Briana Junior finished fourth in the triple jump with a mark of 11.00m. On the men's side, junior Alex Delgadillo and freshman Alexander McHenry finished third and fourth in the javelin with throws of 44.86m and 42.61m and sophomore Alex Irani set a new personal best in the discus with a throw of 40.68m.
